Written as a satire of the corrupted politics in Brazil, "Que Rei Sou Eu?" tells the story of the Kingdom of Avilan, since the death of good King Petrus II. On his death-bed, the king reveals he had a bastard son, who should succeed him on throne. But the court's counselors, frightened with the possibility of being demised, gather around evil Queen Valentina and instore an absolutist, unpopular tyranny. They eventually find an impostor, Pichot, to present him as the bastard prince. But the real prince, Jean-Pierre, who grew up among thieves and whores, is determined to save his people and follow his destiny.
